Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering

The programme produce competent graduates that are  able to integrate agricultural engineering in sustainable mechanization in agriculture in diverse farming circumstances. The graduates provide technical solutions compatible to the available resources at smallholder, large scale and cooperative level to large scale corporate production business.

This programme makes designers of engineering systems for renewable energy, rain water harvesting, and agro-processing. The graduates are excellent planners, organizers, managers, and administrator in agricultural production.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Students who graduate from this program will be able to:

  1. Apply technological analytical and managerial skills to analyse and asses engineering system for effective application to agricultural projects.
  2. Apply knowledge and skills in design, construction, operation, management and maintenance of water supply systems including rain water harvest for agricultural production.
  3. Apply Knowledge and skills to design and construct renewable energe sources for agricultural production and domestic purposes.
  4. Work and employ themselves in agricultural-based and related firms.
  5. Apply aspect of technology and art5 of processing of agricultural products to add value to satisfy market demands

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Two principal passes (4 points) in Advance Mathematics and one of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry or Geography. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at O-Level OR Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Agricultural Engineering, Hydrogeology and Water Well Drilling, Water Quality Laboratory Technology, Irrigation Engineering or Water Resources Engi- neering with an average of ‘B’ or GPA of not less than 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in two science subject and a minimum of “D” grade in Mathematics at O-Level.
